When you use a custom hat on a server with this mod enabled, then the hat model will be automatically sent to the server and shared with all other players online so that those can also display it. You can download custom hat models and add them to your game. The Hats mod will also work on servers without it but in a different way (random hats for all). Note that the Hats mod is disabled by default in the Feed The Beast Unleashed pack, but can be enabled from the mods tab of the main menu.

A launcher for ModAPI hub is available for download from the website. The game does not have Workshop support or its own Nexus page. As of September of 2019, the Hub is the primary source for all mods for The Forest. Mods are only applied permanently or temporarily to the person using the item (or the person the item is used on in the case of Consumables). You can change the key by opening the menu with it, navigate to the personalize section ('P' key) and change it there. Modifications, or Mods for short, are abilities that are caused by equipment, Consumables or special events. Hats can be worn and customize from the hat menu, in FTB packs H or V (Unleashed) is the default key. When a mob wearing a hat is killed by the player, the hat will be added to the player's hat collection. Hats will randomly spawn on mobs, both passive and hostile.

The Hats mod by iChun adds dozens of wearable cosmetic hats the player can acquire.
